This is an 18 hour First Aid at course in blended format. This course is accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB).
With the blended option you complete an Elearning module (prior to the course) followed by 2 days face to face. Face to face days are 13 and 15 November.
This qualification is ideal for those in larger workplaces, higher risk settings and sometimes selected by larger schools.
The course competencies include:
– Understand the roles and responsibilities of a First Aider
– Assessing an incident including the Primary survey
– Managing an unconscious breathing casualty
– Managing an unconscious casualty who is not breathing normally (CPR and AED)
– Managing a seizure
– Handling a choking emergency
– Dealing with a burn or bleed injury including recognising and treating shock
– Responding to a severe allergic reaction (Anaphylaxis)
– Dealing with Minor Injuries such as bumps and scrapes
– Help a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints
– Help a casualty with suspected head, neck and spinal injuries
– Help a casualty with a suspected chest injury
– Help a casualty with an eye injury
– Provide First Aid to someone who has been poisoned
– Help a casualty with a suspected major illness including
– Heart attack
– Stroke
– Asthma
– Diabetes
Candidates will be assessed through continual practical assessment, scenarios, teamwork and verbal reasoning.
Upon successful completion candidates will receive an FAIB accredited certificate valid for 3 years.
